| | | Freeing the Dalits from persecution and poverty. India's New Beginnings powerfully portrays the oppression and exploitation of India's 250 million untouchables. For centuries the Dalits have lived impoverished lives, shunned by the upper castes and treated as though they are less than human. But now new hope and opportunity are emerging for this underclass community. India's New Beginnings explores the work of the Operation Mercy Charitable Company (OMCC). OMCC's whole life approach to the care of the Dalits is as inspiring as it is strategic and practical. With a goal to establish 1,000 Dalit Education and Emancipation Centres across India, their extraordinary work seeks to life the Dalits out of poverty, injustice and modern day slavery. India's New Beginnings plays for 79 minutes with a main feature length of 35 minutes. There are three extra in depth interviews, a trailer, and other bonus elements. The selection menu enables shorter sections to be shown on their own as a taster for the main film, or for small groups, study or discussion purposes. India's New Beginnings is narrated by Russell Boulter (The Bill, Casualty )and directed by Michael Lawson (India's Broken People, India's Hidden Slavery).
