    New Hymn Makers: Coventry singers

If you are expecting a CD similar to the first Coventry singers CD of Stuart Townend you will be disappointed. This CD is only for organ music lovers. The organ overpowers the singing - even that of a soprano solo. Only the last beautiful track shows how good this could have been. Download this track.

I am listening to this wonderful CD as I type, and can only think of positive things to say. It has been recorded brilliantly and has some very pretty arrangements. Most of all it has the kind of hymns you would expect from Stuart Townend, biblically based and encouraging! And if another one is to be made, pull out more of those stops!!

Ignore the poster named Paul Oates, I think he must be either listening to a different CD or he needs a new CD player. The organ is definitely not overpowering, if anything it is too quiet in some songs! The singing is perfectly easy to hear. Overall the CD is rather quiet compared to other CDs but all you have to do is notch up the volume a bit.

If you like the sound of old-fashioned hymn music you will like this CD, some of the arrangements are very well done and all are good performances. However if you're looking for something that has typical modern renditions of Stu's songs, this is definitely NOT it - the overall feeling when listening to this CD is of having walked into a High Anglican church.
